The season starts from mid May though to June late September and even October, fishing at Lakeside Cottages has its benefits of Mike Williams. The owner, ex of the U.K. a keen and knowledgeable angler who knows the lake and rivers well, is on hand to advise tactics, bait, spots and will rent you fishing tackle at very reasonable rates and personally guide you to Mike's local fishing "hot spots" always finding carp for his guests with many achieving their personal best as Mike is well known for giving top advice!

Lakeside Cottage Resort has a beautiful location with spectacular scenery located on Katchewanooka Lake in the heart of the famous Kawarthas where you can relax and enjoy natures wildlife while fishing in private swims regularly pre-baited with Mikes own mixed bait which is very reasonable.The cottages are all waterfront within stepping distance of Mike's private pre - baited swims easy access no long walks with heavy tackle you can fish right next to your cottage all of this makes Lakeside Cottages the best place to be.

Carp fishing at Lakeside Cottages: Carp to forty have been landed, and bigger fish are present, if the fishing is quiet on a slow day you might only catch half a dozen teens and twenties, but on a good day expect to catch into double figures or more with a good possibility to catch thirties and even forties among them.

Tackle: Bring strong sufficient carp hooks, bait runner reels, braid and mono, braid and mono, can be purchased locally at reasonable prices and bring plenty of inline method feeders and 2oz to 3oz leads.

Mikes tips: A strong landing net, a must is a really good strong catapult bring two with spare pouches and elastic. Mike suggests Trevor Tomlins whopper dropper with carp mats essential and if you forget Mike has some spare.


Bait: Mikes maize method mix can be pre- arranged and ordered in advance, a row boat is provided for baiting up for all Lakeside guest's along with chairs Hook bait, use boiled corn or boilies both work well.

Carp can eat vast quantities of bait when feeding well confidently, these fish fight really hard, the fishing is very exciting and truly fabulous, you will catch more fish in a week or two weeks than you'll probably catch in a season, with hard fighting quality carp, commons and mirrors the scenic waters of Lake Katchewanooka make this the finest wild natural carp fishing in the world right here at Lakeside Cottages.             2021 Ontario Announces New Enhancement For Carp Fishing of up to 3 Lines!

When fishing from shore each line being used can be no further than 2 metres approximately 6 feet from another line of the angler is using. With these new regulations allowing 3 rods for the Carp fishing, here at Lakeside Cottages we may have to restrict the amount of rods being used to one or two per person to allow equal distance. This will be at the owners discretion. Anyone wishing to Carp fish while staying at Lakeside Cottages must advise at the time of booking a cottage to allocate swims.
